Meet Krista
Just the Facts:
I’ve been teaching people how to enrich their lives with guided meditation, visualization, relaxation, and mindfulness techniques since 2001. Presently, I am the meditation instructor for Beach Cities Health District, a dynamic public health agency in Redondo Beach, California, and at the CRS Center of Spiritual Living also in Redondo Beach, California.
I am also a writer (poetry, short stories, and essays) and a celebrant.
I have been happily married since 1997 and I am the mother of two children. I earned a B.S. in Business Administration and a certificate of Religious Studies, both from CSU Long Beach.
My Philosophy about Teaching, Writing, And Practicing Meditation
Like many people, I began practicing meditation at a time when I was deeply unhappy. My body was heavy, my relationship was filled with pain and drama, and I hated my job. In 1993 I met a woman by the name of Lynda Ballard who offered to teach me guided meditation. I gratefully accepted.
Since that time, I have studied and practiced yoga, shamanism, spiritualism, mindfulness, and most recently The Science of Mind, all of which has allowed my practice to evolve and deepen…but no method or ideology has been more delicious then just being, breathing, and listening. Each day, I journal, study a spiritual text, and then sit for 10 to 45 minutes and just breathe. My practice has evolved over many years and it is no longer just the life boat in the turbulent waters of my mind, but a form of artistic expression.
I teach guided meditation and visualization because I believe that it is a wonderful way for most people to relax, to begin a meditation practice, or to re-ignite their passion for their practice. My philosophy about teaching meditation and mindfulness is simple: One, that I introduce you to a variety of breathing, visualization and mindfulness techniques that not only feel good but are realistic, easy to do, and applicable to your present lifestyle. Two, to support you starting or maintaining a practice at home. And three, to affirm the truth that the knower in you always knows, loves, and sustains you.
I write and I teach because it is a joy for me to share what I’ve learned on how to live mindfully, love fully, and breathe deeply. I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
